Tommy Lee-5-1024x1024Lee was born Thomas Lee Bass October 3 of 1962 in Athens to David Lee Thomas Bass, an American U.S. Army sergeant and Vassiliki Papadimitriou who was one of the contestants at the 1957 Miss Greece beauty pageant (Greek: Basilike Papademetriou). Athena is his younger sister is also drummer. When Lee was about two years [4] old his father emigrated the family back to the United States, settling in California.Lee received his first drumsticks when he was four years old, and his first drum kit as a teenager. In order to pursue a career as a musician, he dropped out of highschool and joined the L.A. nightclub band Suite 19. [5] As a teenager the band played Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Cheap Trick, Kiss, AC/DC and Sweet. John Bonham, Tommy Aldridge and Alex Van Halen were his main drumming inspirations. Terry Bozzio has also been a significant influence.
