When she was initially inspired through the shadows she observed on the grass of the trees She worked over a period of months to develop a technique which did not depict the object in a 2D picture. When objects live or perishable, such as fruits and people that they transform into a picture of their own. Alexa's style of painting is ephemeral and only the photos of her work remain. The painting and the photographic techniques are so tightly coordinated that the result is nothing but a two-dimensional flat space which is able to achieve trompe l'oeil. The third dimension is discernible only within certain places like near the eyes or in hair. Meade often integrates her model in the surrounding three-dimensional environment that allows them to interact within their own world. The result is a blurring of the lines between photography, painting, and installation.
